I've recently been introduced to a book titled "Hater". It's the first in a soon to be trilogy. I'm always interested in seeing a self-published author make it in the big game.

The book is about a young man by the name of Danny McCoyne. He is a bureaucrat at the Parking Fine Processing Office; a job he loathes but as poor as the pay is he needs to keep his boring position in order to feed his wife and kids. He's young, over-worked and overall, depressed. Danny knows he has no future beyond being near the bottom of his agency's food chain.

It starts out with him making his way to work wherein he witnesses an apparent random act of violence in the middle of a crowded street. It was gruesome. He didn't think much of it at first, but when more and more scenes like this start to occur, the media dubs the assaulters as Haters.

It's a heart-racing, thriller. David Moody keeps you on edge through most if not all of the book. I was astonished to see myself finishing it up only a few hours after I'd picked it up! By the end, I'm sure most will feel my frustration when you discover that not only he is leaving you wanton of a few more chapters, but that the other two books have yet to even be published.

What else can I praise? Oh! The cover art is fantastic! Even if a few classmates mistook the title for "Hitler". (Honestly, a fourteen year-old Jewish girl reading up on Hitler? Think it through people, think it through.)

I have to admit, I was a bit weary at first. I'd originally purchased this book for my mother. She zipped through it and gushed for days until I finally picked the darn thing up, and boy am I glad I did!

Beware, the author is British, so there is a bit of crude humor and one vulgar sex scene (it ends in blood-thirst, no worries). Other than that, I'd give it a five star rating.

Overall, I'd recommend this book to just about anyone looking for a good thriller or mystery novel.

H1N1 Strain A Influenza, an epidemic.

  • May. 3rd, 2009 at 3:00 PM

To those it may concern; Holmes Junior High is to be closed for fourteen days due to the epidemic slowly working it's way through our community. There have been two confirmed cases of one adolescent and one adult... It's time's like these I wish I hadn't transferred. But, I digress.

The real reason I'm blogging about this is to not only inform, but to rant. Why? Because the world is full of misinformed nitwits whom choose to spout rumours and misconception rather than the whole story or even, dare I say, the truth.

This is what causes mass panic people!

There's only been about one-hundred confirmed cases in the USA, give or take a few and what? Only three people have died from it? A loss is a loss and it's terrible, but everyone needs to just calm the fuck down...

I swear to God, I'm not making this up. Not but a few days ago, I was sitting in my Art class and the moron next to me (no need to speak his name, we all know who it was) is going on about how the Swin Flu is killing thousands of people and I'm just like WHAT? I calmly tried to explain to him without mentioning his stupidity (it's probably a sore subject for him) that there haven't even been one thousand confirmed cases in the WORLD and he up and calls a few crass and offensive names I choose to not repeat.

Honestly people. Pick up a newspaper, watch the news, go on AOL, I DON'T CARE. But before you start making accusations and calling people out, at least get your facts straight. Jesus fucking Christ.

EDIT 5.03.09; Holmes is no longer to be closed. They didn't give much detail, but from what was said, I've come to believe that those who were infected did indeed have Influenza, just not H1N1. Well then. Indeed. Misinformation or even perhaps, idiocy? Yes. Just yes.

So sorry for my scarce activity. For the past few (many) months, I've been going through... well, a lot. Moving, changing schools, losing a cat, another cat dying... my uncle and cousin dying. Then we come to the whole I have trouble with vertigo and sleeping, I'm on anti-depressants, why does the world hate me?! *cry, stomp, stomp, trip*.

I can also partially blame it on the fact that certain websites lag (in a BIG way) for me and I'm a lackadaisical miscreant.

I've also taken ill. I've been suffering from Strep throat for the past week and a half, but fear not little ones, I shall persevere! :D

In The Dead of The Night.

  • Jan. 13th, 2009 at 9:17 PM

I've been having a lot of nightmares as of late. I'm still not sure what's triggering them, but I've configured this... poem, if you will, based off of these nightmares. Enjoy?

It's a hard concept to comprehend. When you feel so alone, when you can’t love even yourself... it’s hard to believe someone else could ever love you. So you start looking for things to prove to yourself it isn’t true. That you aren't worthless.

Even if you know it's possible to be loved and to love, it doesn't make the transition any easier. It, in fact, makes it harder. Coming to the conclusion that of something so versitile still confounds me in a way that half the time, I can't even fathom. And yet, here I stand, telling, knowing that I am indeed loved. And I know from the deepest chasms of my heart that I love as well.

It's almost like an oath that does not bear repetition. Yet so completely and utterly not. I believe this because a transpierce could easily become a diplomatic movement if forced. Why? Because we are the first, second and even sometimes the third person. That is why the men and women of today are so, dare I say, confused by this and that or he and she. Truly, It’s an everlasting conundrum. They, nay, we are lost souls waiting to be found by that one special person whom can and will give us everything. Even if we know that person does not exsist.

It is because of this that on my last dying wish I have decided to scream out to the heavens "who am I?" but not because I give a damn. No, It’s because that’s what they’d expect. And how do I know this? Because I know that I worthless. I am not of value to this life nor the next. I will never be that of importance.

If I have learned one thing in my life, it is that I am not everything, but that I am nothing.

Salute To Supernatural.

  • Aug. 19th, 2008 at 2:08 PM

Guess who's going to the 2nd annual Salute To Supernatural Convention?! (*I'll be the fourteen year-old girl writhing on the floor in ecstasy whilst snapping photo's of her beloved Jared... and Jensen!)

Oh my god. I think I just might have the greatest mum ever!@ She's ACTUALLY taking me down to Los Angeles in March to see Jensen and Jared!!! ...I'm thinking it might be because she has the hots for Jensen though... Meh! Doesn't matter! We already agreed that she could have him as long at I got Jared. :)

Anyhoo. I know it's still a long while off, but I'm already planning on how I'm going to kidnap Jared get there and where I'm going to molest him stay. But no worries. It's not like I've never been to LA. XD

Okay! I'm off to lala land now.

Huh. Big, little town.

  • Jul. 21st, 2008 at 2:22 AM

I've just learned that the movie "phenomenon" was filmed here, in my little town. Granted, I was only two when movie first premiered, but still. Gives me a sense of pride that something big happened here. And yes, we are a boring (safe) little town. What with the University and all, there are no malls or anyplace to commit an anctual crime.
Please don't mistake me for ungrateful. I love Davis. :)

Is it wrong to laugh?

  • Jul. 21st, 2008 at 12:38 AM

My favourite scene from the episode "Time Is On my Side". Season three, Supernatural. Sorry about the ad in the beginning.

"Baby, I can't stay mad at you."

And here's proof that Jensen Ackles hung out with the gay crowd in high school. Might I point out the pink shirt, skinny loose tie and pouty lips? Yes, I may. (this picture is not from his days as a minor, but I consider it proof nonetheless!)
And gosh darn it all, I suppose old habits die hard.
 I like this picture. >.>

Human nature.

  • Jul. 19th, 2008 at 7:13 AM

Fear.
It's a natural feeling,
a vulnerability.
To fear what you cannot see,
nor grasp.
And we,
as humans,
have an innate fear of the unknown.
And it angers us.
To be different is to be wrong,
misguided,
misunderstood.
For he,
not I,
but we,
are still promiscuous.
And then some.
And yet,
what am I to question the very lining of reality,
when I,
myself,
am but mere human?
Nay,
mere mortal.
And yet,
here I stand,
ridiculing common belief.
Taunting that of a supposed "god".
Still,
Who is this man?
And whom did he create if not us,
not I,
but himself?
The question stands,
who did create the lord himself?
Even more so,
if I were to threaten you,
or even commit a crime,
then what?
What are you and god going to do about it?

DeviantART can kiss my ass.

  • Jul. 19th, 2008 at 7:02 AM

DeviantART won't let me change my freakin' "emoticons" or post any of my writing or art. Blah, blah, blah. Bitch, moan, groan.
*flings herself onto the bed and sobs uncontrollably into a pillow*
And, I'm over it.
